Check the nutritional value of your products and verify labelling information before putting your products on the market.
Regulation (EU) No 1169/2011 regarding the provision of food information to consumers establishes that all processed foods must now be labelled with mandatory nutrition labelling. The components that must be declared are: energy value, fat, saturated fat, carbohydrates, sugars, protein and salt. Other nutrient values such as monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fatty acids, polyols, starch, dietary fibre, vitamins or minerals can be added to the mandatory nutrition information on a voluntary basis.
Nowadays, a food’s nutritional information is an essential part of the customer’s purchasing decision. It allows the customer to choose the product that best meets his or her dietary needs.
Therefore, food manufacturers and distributors should verify the product’s commercial and nutritional quality parameters before placing it on the market.
