PRISMA-D

Intelligent multisensor platform for the detection of contaminants and chemical-biological threats in complex matrices
22 October, 2026

Objective

To develop, integrate and validate, in a relevant environment, an intelligent multisensor technological platform that enables the rapid detection, localisation and reliable confirmation of physical, chemical and biological contaminants on surfaces and in complex matrices — with a particular focus on water and sludge —, integrating detection at the point of interest, operator protection and laboratory analysis, and providing an operational, interoperable solution ready for future transfer to the market.

Activities

  • Robotics and autonomous systems. Development of ground-based and aerial robotic subsystems for monitoring potentially contaminated environments and the remote, safe and traceable collection of environmental samples.
  • Biosensor technologies. Develop and characterise biosensors that enable the analysis of biological/chemical risk agents, such as pathogens, or the biochemical consequences of human exposure to these agents.
  • Photonic and analytical technologies. Develop, optimise and validate — in the laboratory — advanced photonic and analytical techniques as reference tools for the detection and characterisation of physical, chemical and biological contaminants in complex matrices.
  • Artificial intelligence for multimodal fusion and decision support. Develop the artificial intelligence core of the PRISMA-D system, responsible for coherently integrating, fusing and exploiting heterogeneous data from the previous activities.
  • Integration and validation. Integrate and validate the prototype.
