iDRONE

The project focuses on the application of the latest hyperspectral artificial vision technologies coupled with unmanned aerial devices, drones and autonomous robots, and artificial intelligence and big data analytics techniques, to design a demonstrative precision agriculture model that enables the identification, capture, analysis and intelligent interpretation of the parameters influencing agricultural production, aimed at optimising the yield of farms.

Objective

The overall objective of the iDrone – hyperspectral analytics – project is to develop a demonstrative precision agriculture model that makes it possible to identify, capture and analyse the parameters influencing a crop through the use of the latest hyperspectral vision technologies coupled with drones and autonomous robots, and big data analytics. To this end, the research activity, carried out in collaboration with companies, will focus on achieving the following specific objectives:

• Identification of crops and the needs of Valencian agricultural companies in terms of production optimisation.
• Determination of the parameters influencing agricultural production for the selected crop.
• Analysis of the technology’s capabilities for identifying the influencing parameters and determining the origin of the data (data source).
• Development of a data capture system for crops through the use of drone vehicles fitted with advanced photonic devices capable of obtaining valuable information from crops.
• Research and development of new robotic systems to automate data collection in greenhouses, where the use of drone vehicles is not applicable.
• Design of information capture, storage and processing infrastructures that integrate data from different sources.
• Research into the application of new big data analytics technologies for the design of solutions aimed at supporting the processes of analysis and interpretation of information for decision-making.
• Implementation of the demonstrative prototype and validation with companies.
