Emerging Risk Identification Service

Identify emerging risks that may impact your company's operations in advance

We understand an emerging risk to be the appearance of a new food hazard (biological or chemical) that is integrated or potentially capable of being integrated into the food chain, and which is generally not covered by current food legislation.

Advisory services on emerging risks focus on a strategic business approach, aimed at identifying and developing scenarios that may arise in the short, medium or long term due to the emergence of new food hazards that could potentially have a negative impact on the organisation’s activities.

Food legislation provides for the identification of emerging risks through Regulation 178/2002 and Law 17/2011 on food safety and nutrition. In this regard, the Spanish Agency for Food Safety and Nutrition (AESAN) is the body responsible for coordinating the actions necessary for the identification and assessment of emerging risks, using the tools available at national and international level, particularly following the guidelines of the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA).
