Objective
The overall objective of RAMDETEC is to develop and apply new technological solutions based on molecular techniques and high-throughput sequencing omics technologies for the isolation, detection and identification of microorganisms with antimicrobial resistance from food matrices in a precise, rapid and effective way, thus preventing their entry into the food chain. The project also involves the validation of these new techniques for their implementation in official food controls.

Results
- Development of a method for the isolation and phenotypic characterisation of AMR microorganisms from food in accordance with official recommendations (reference method for AMR detection).
- Establishment of an initial panel of 10 qPCR detection systems for AMR genes.
- Development of a DNA extraction protocol from food that yields DNA in sufficient quantity and quality for use in molecular analyses.
- Start of microbiome characterisation in food matrices.
- Creation of a collection of AMR microbial strains extracted from food.
- Start (potential) of a new R&D&I line specialised in AMR.
