Objective
The main objective of the project is to develop a scheduling model, integrated into decision support systems, that determines irrigation strategies based on the water status and needs of the plant, helping to optimise and improve water resource efficiency
Activities
- Management and coordination
- Determination of vegetative vigour indices
- Calculation of evapotranspiration
- Determination of plant water status at different spatial and spectral scales
- Field agronomic studies to validate irrigation scheduling
- Capitalisation of results
Results
- Determination of vegetative vigour indices: It has been demonstrated that establishing a multi-scale protocol for determining crop vegetative vigour through vegetation indices is critical for integrating remote data obtained from multiple platforms.
- Calculation of evapotranspiration: DigitalRiego has implemented and field-tested an evapotranspiration calculation model and integrated it with crop growth models (Aquacrop).
- Determination of water status: The use of thermal and hyperspectral data has been evaluated to determine crop water status at different spatial scales.
