AVI – NANOBAC

Production of small antibody formats in yeasts against different bacteria in the livestock sector (NANOBAC)
23 July, 2021

Objective

The

main objective

of NANOBAC is the creation of a reduced-format antibody library based on VHHs (Variable heavy of Heavy chain antibody), the smallest format of existing functional antibodies, as a tool to increase food safety with two possible applications for industry: food additives and a portable sensor for the early detection of foodborne pathogens.

Activities

  1. Detection and production/isolation of membrane proteins from microorganisms for affinity screening.
  2. Obtaining VHH collections through affinity screening.
  3. Design of antibody formats based on high-affinity VHH sequences.
  4. Recombinant production of antibodies for the development of the collection.
  5. Experimental sensitivity tests of the antibodies in the collection.
